📕 I love this quote from Machiavelli, and I love Michael Margolis book Story 10x. 📕 It is so true, when you’re challenging the status quo, the establishment or the accepted norms, you’re more than often looked upon as a heretic, an imposter or an outsider. But like a stream wearing down a river rock, persistence beats resistance!Bill Gates's first business-Traf-O-Data—was a failure. Star surfer Bethany Hamilton's arm was bitten off by a shark. Stephen King's first book (Carrie) was rejected 30 times. J.K. Rowling's first book was rejected by 12 publishers before the 13th (Bloomsbury) accepted it. She was on the dole when she wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The established order is like an immune system and treats innovators like a foreign virus. The status quo is designed to keep the order it has established. And it can seem nearly impossible to shine a light on a new way, especially for those who like the old way.But without radical ideas like a taxi service that owns no cars, or an accomodation provider that owns no real estate we would have no Uber and no Airbnb. So even though it’s daunting, keep your ideas alive. Sometimes it takes years of establishment before flowers get to bloom!#narrative #innovation #disruption #strategic #storytelling #thought

🌟 Embracing the Infinite Mindset 🌟In a world where competition often dominates the narrative, it's easy to get caught up in the pursuit of short-term wins and beating the competition. But what if there's a better way?Imagine if we shifted our focus from finite goals to infinite aspirations. What if we viewed success not as a destination but as a journey with no end? This is the essence of embracing an infinite mindset.By prioritizing long-term goals, values, purpose and collaboration over short-term gains, we can grow organisations and cultures that are not only resilient but also ethical and fulfilling. It's about playing the long game, the game of incremental gains, where success is measured not by how we stack up against others but by how we contribute to something greater than ourselves.Let's challenge ourselves to think beyond the confines of finite thinking and embrace the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we can create a world where success is not a zero-sum game but a collective journey towards a brighter future. #InfiniteMindset #whybeforehow #LongTermSuccess #Collaboration #ValuesDrivenLeadership

I had a powerful conversation with one of my team members this morning. We were discussing self-reflection and self-awareness, and how important these are in career development and business growth. My team member shared with me a unique method they use to help themselves when they're feeling down;“If IT ever looked at my inbox they would commit me! What I do is, when ever I’ve had a bad day or I’m not feeling like I’m focusing on how to solve my problems, I write an email to myself. I write an email to myself asking for help, as if I’m one of my team members, and I set a delay on it so it pops up in my inbox the next morning. Then in the morning I open it, and I answer it and solve the problems. I know it sounds weird but it really helps me”. I don’t think it is weird at all, I think it’s incredible! It illustrates so perfectly the value of self reflection, humility and changing our perspectives in order to seek greater clarity. This level of self-awareness is critical to personal and professional growth. And it's not just important for individuals - businesses can benefit greatly from looking inward through the eyes of their customers or team members. In a changing environment, it's easy to feel like our worth is diminished. And leadership by service can force us to always be focussed on others and their needs. It’s important to remember that we are all valued, and there's always room for improvement. It always starts by looking at ourselves, as if we are someone worthy of helping.Like the airlines tell us, place your oxygen mask on first before attending to others…

As Australians, we have a deep connection to our natural environment, which is why it's so inspiring to be a part of an iconic Australian brand that celebrates it. Huge congratulations to Rachel Oakley and Neil Sookee for their amazing work! ❤️ #ProudCustodians #AustralianHeritage #EnvironmentalInspiration

This is unbelievably accurate, particularly; Leadership that is self aware and inspiring.I feel like all others could be directly impacted by this one key variable.Did you know?Leaders who encourage and inspire get 2.5x the productivity out of teams.Leaders who kick down, critique and “use the whip” are more likely to; lose staff, find it hard to attract talent, have less diverse teams, have poor mental health cultures in workplaces and believe it or not, new studies suggest negative leadership can also have an impact on safety metrics even if they’re not directly involved with the front line.So moral of the story?Care about your teams, care about them as individuals, encourage the differences and celebrate their unique skills, focus on the good and backfill the areas for improvement…if you don’t you may be doing more damage than you realise.
